The Rayner farms team in 2025

We had a busy year in 2025 for the Rayner Farms team, with horse shows, film work, harvest, and a wide range of other contract work keeping everyone occupied throughout the year. From supporting major equestrian events and preparing film locations, to completing harvest and carrying out groundwork projects, it has been another varied and successful year for the farm and team.

The Horse Shows

2025 was another busy and successful year for the Rayner Farm team on the horse show circuit. The season began with the 5 * Windsor Horse Show, followed by the Chelsea Horse Show, with the Arab Horse Show taking place the following week.

As well as attending the events, the farm team played a major role behind the scenes with ground works and site preparation before, during, and after the shows. Throughout each event, the ground crew worked hard to keep the sites running smoothly, maintaining arenas, tracks, parking areas, and surrounding grounds to ensure everything stayed in top condition for competitors and visitors alike.

Once the shows had finished, work quickly turned to restoring the sites back to their best condition. This included clearing equipment, repairing ground surfaces, reseeding damaged areas, and making sure all grounds were returned to tip-top condition after a very busy few weeks.

A huge thank you goes to everyone involved for the long hours and hard work that help make these events such a success year after year.

The Farm Crops

Harvest 2025 has now been completed across the farm, with generally dry conditions allowing crops to be cut earlier than usual. After a challenging spring with limited rainfall, the warm summer helped crops ripen quickly, and most harvesting was completed in very good conditions.

Wheat yields were steady overall, although results varied depending on soil type and rainfall throughout the season. Crops on the heavier land performed particularly well, while lighter ground struggled slightly during the hottest weeks of the summer. Grain quality was pleasing, with good moisture levels and strong samples going into store.

Winter barley came off early and benefited from the dry weather during harvest, producing reasonable yields and good quality straw. Spring barley was more variable due to the lack of moisture during grain fill, but overall results remained satisfactory.

Oilseed rape performed better than expected this year, with crops showing strong establishment and improved yields compared with previous seasons. The dry harvesting conditions also helped maintain good seed quality and oil content.

Attention is now turning towards autumn cultivations and preparations for next year’s drilling campaign.

The Film Work

The summer months were once again busy with film work across the farm and surrounding sites. We welcomed a wide range of productions throughout the season, from rock band music videos to dramatic end-of-the-world short films and television projects.

Alongside filming on the farm itself, we were also involved in preparing and supporting film sets on nearby locations, helping provide equipment, access, and agricultural support where needed. Being located so close to both Pinewood Studios and Shepperton Studios continues to bring exciting opportunities and keeps our strong connections within the film industry growing year after year.

It has been fantastic to see the variety of creative projects using the local countryside and farm settings, and we look forward to welcoming more productions in the future.
